Rarely does a product or system come along that provides value to clients in ways that are hard to measure. The last time a true breakthrough in wealth creation and self development happened was when Napoleon Hill published his book "Think and Grow Rich". The book was actually the brain child of Andrew Carnegie, who was interviewed by Hill asking Carnegie how he got rich. Carnegie laid out his beliefs and strategies to Hill who confirmed the information by interviewing other wealthy people and asking them what they did to create their personal wealth. This could be considered the first mentoring book written by a true mentor.
He found out that the different wealthy people were all doing the same thing but they had never met each other. Coincidence or not! Actually these people had learned these strategies from the metaphysical writings that were published back in the late 1800's. If one were to seek out the information and put it into practice they would become successful but taking the initiative to hunt down the information, would be a daunting task.
When Hills book hit the market it was viewed as a true breakthrough in self development. He actually took the time to put together the information and made it easy for the public to use it. It gave people steps on how to become successful, and is credited with the modern self development movement. Carnegie, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, and many other historic wealthy people learned this information when it was first published, after the Civil War in the United States. If you actually looked at the wealth in the U.S. it actually took off after the Civil War. Wealth blossomed in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
Modern day motivational speakers such as Tony Robbins, Zig Ziegler, W. Clement Stone, and other self development companies cropped up to teach people how to become wealthy. These companies were selling self help courses, but no hands on mentoring. Although some companies actually have mentoring courses set up but the students are required to attend classes in different parts of the country. The cost can be prohibitive and there is no hands on mentoring working closely with clients in running their home businesses.
